Manchester City v Real Madrid: 'Kevin de Bruyne holds the key'

Manchester City definitely need to take a lead to the Bernabeu next week to give themselves a chance of winning their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
If Real were to get a draw at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, I would fancy them heavily in the second leg. So the first game is key for City.
Real's firepower means they will have chances in Manchester, of course, but City have match-winners too and they have to go for it while being clever and cautious at the same time.
It is going to be interesting who City manager Manuel Pellegrini goes with in midfield, where he needs to find that very delicate balance between trying to put Real on the back foot, while keeping the back door locked.
Yaya Toure's injury means City are likely to be without a key player and one of their main goal threats, but the form of Kevin de Bruyne means that is not as big a blow as it once would have been.

Who plays in front of the defence?

Manchester City duo Fernando and Fernandinho in action together against Sevilla
Fernandinho and Fernando have started City's last four Champions League knockout games, and were also midfield partners in their impressive 3-1 win in Sevilla in the group stage
Although he was fit, there was no room for Toure in the second leg of City's quarter-final win over Paris St-Germain because of the partnership of Fernandinho and Fernando.
Playing at the heart of City's midfield in Pellegrini's 4-2-3-1 formation, the Brazilian duo gave City legs, discipline and defensive cover.
Fernandinho and Fernando protected the back four so well, allowed the full-backs to get forward and gave the front players a great platform to work from.
Should they be picked together there again against Real? Yes, 100%.
Two dedicated holding midfielders are very important against such a good attacking side because City are going to come under pressure at times.
In central defence, Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi played well against PSG.
But Vincent Kompany is fit again and, if he is sharp enough after being rested against Stoke on Saturday, I would pick him and play Mangala alongside him for his powerful, physical presence.

Toure absence means De Bruyne becomes key

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne
De Bruyne has scored four goals and made one assist since returning from a two-month injury lay-off at the start of April
In a game like this one, you are looking for players who can conjure up a moment of brilliance in the final third to make something happen out of nothing.
It is in this area where Pellegrini has the most options, even with Toure unavailable.
Toure can score from anywhere at any time so, in a game where City need goals, he will be a big miss.
But one advantage of him being out is that, while De Bruyne has the legs to play wide, he is better in that number 10 role. So, by playing him there you use him in the position where he is most effective.
Because of how good De Bruyne's end product is, Pellegrini will want him on the ball as much as possible.
There are times when you can be nullified centrally if a team packs out their midfield and the only space is wide but, more often than not, you get more touches of the ball in the centre and that will mean De Bruyne can create more.
Playing there he is also likely to have more chances to score himself too.
The £55m Belgian scored crucial goals in both legs of the quarter-final and the onus will be on him and Sergio Aguero to provide the main goal threat again.

Who else plays behind Aguero?

Jesus Navas
The problem with using De Bruyne as the number 10 is that it means pushing David Silva out wide, usually to the left.
That does not help to give the team width or protect his full-back, because he likes to drift inside himself.
Every time Silva does not track back, City will be vulnerable down the flanks because the Real full-backs will definitely push on when they are attacking.
From that point of view, Jesus Navas and Raheem Sterling offer the most pace and, with it, the most defensive cover.
But City need goals on Tuesday, so they cannot play both of them.
They lose a goal threat by playing Navas - he does not score enough - but Sterling has not played enough recently to get the nod in a game as big as this.
Silva is City's most creative player, which makes up for what he lacks defensively, so I would pick him on the left of De Bruyne, with Navas on the right.
Ideally all three of those players would offer a goal threat, but that trio gives the side balance and it is still an attacking selection.
I think that offers City their best hope. The away leg will be different, of course, but because they are at home and because they need goals, I would go with those three.

Why City should not change their approach now

Cristiano Ronaldo's goals per game this season
The simple fact is City, with the players they have got and the way they usually set up, are not capable of sitting off, parking the bus and trying to nick a goal.
There is no way changing their tactics and philosophy at this stage of the competition will get them a result anyway. They have to believe in their ability, and really go after Real to cause them problems.
It won't be easy, though. You can get at Real defensively but I don't think they will take their eye off the prize in the same way they did in the first leg of their quarter-final, when they lost 2-0 in Wolfsburg.
Even then, they still turned the tie around at the Bernabeu.
If he is fit, Cristiano Ronaldo is their main threat because of the sheer number of goals he scores - more than anyone else in the team - but clearly they have other danger men like Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema too.
Both teams are set up to score goals and I think we are going to see a terrific tie.
Can Man City do it? Possibly. But Pellegrini's side will have to play really well in both matches and ride their luck at times to win the tie over two legs,
I make Real favourites but, if they get it right on Tuesday, I think City have got a chance.

What made Papa Wemba so influential?

Papa Wemba on stage during his final performance
Tributes have been pouring in for Congolese musician Papa Wemba who died on Sunday morning after collapsing on stage. African music expert Rita Ray looks at what made him so influential.
Papa Wemba, or Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba, was rebellious, prolific, a style icon, at times notorious and always innovative, who was well known as one of the pioneers of modern Congolese soukous music.
But he was very clear about how he wanted to be remembered, according to the sleeve notes from his 1995 album Emotion.
"When people talk about Papa Wemba, I don't want them to say I am an African singer, or a world music singer," he said. "I would like people to say just 'singer'. Because that's what I am. A singer. Full stop."

Papa Wemba entered the competitive world of Congolese music in December 1969, 10 years after his country's independence.
It had been a traumatic era of civil war, assassinations and political instability. Yet the music created there, a potent blend of Cuban, Latin American and traditional African sounds, made Kinshasa the music capital of the continent.
Rumba was all the rage. It crossed boundaries and swept across Africa with the likes of Franco and TPOK Jazz, Tabu Ley Rochereau and Dr Nico driving its popularity, their big dance orchestras harking back to the euphoric days of independence.
Then Papa Wemba and a group of forward-looking high school kids formed Zaiko Langa Langa, a band that was to revolutionise rumba music and lay the foundations for the new era of soukous to come.
Influenced by Western pop and rock combos of the 1960s and no doubt a lack of money to buy instruments, Zaiko Langa Langa went against form, they stripped out the horn sections prevalent in the rumba orchestras of the time and pushed the electric guitar and snare drum to the fore.
The band was hip rebellious and became legends of the genre.
They featured several singers singing in harmony and tinkered with the sebene - the fast improvised instrumental section of soukous music.

The name Zaiko is a contraction of Zaire ya bokoko - the Zaire of our ancestors - the langa langa refers to an ethnic group from the equatorial region.
How prescient, President Mobutu Sese Seko was to change the country's name to Republic of Zaire in 1971. The officially sanctioned authenticity movement which followed also directed the band to look more into African heritage for musical inspiration.
In 1974, a month after boxers Muhammad Ali and George Forman fought in Kinshasa's Rumble in The Jungle, artistic differences and money squabbles prompted Papa Wemba, along with fellow band members Bozi Boziana and Evoloko, to leave the band and form the successful Isifi Lokole and later Yoka Lokole.

But it was when he put together his band Viva La Musica in 1977 that Papa Wemba really came into his own.
Always innovative he introduced the lokole into the mix, a traditional instrument made out of a hollowed out tree trunk and hit with sticks.
There was more emphasis on his distinctive mournful falsetto vocals which were inspired by his greatest musical influence, his mother, a professional funeral dirge singer.
He was amazingly popular at home, where his house became a hang-out for the cool youth who followed his music and style.

Starter of the sapeurs

He became the leader of the Sape - short for Societe des Ambianceurs et des Personnes d'Elegance or Society of Ambiance-ists and People of Elegance - whose members, the sapeurs, were known for their elegant style of dress.
"The Sapeur cult promoted high standards of personal cleanliness, hygiene and smart dress, to a whole generation of youth across Zaire," Papa Wemba said.
"When I say well-groomed, well-shaved, well-perfumed, it's a characteristic that I am insisting on among the young. I don't care about their education, since education always comes first of all from the family."

To his dismay, the movement that started out as a means of establishing an identity for the youth at home and abroad was taken to extreme lengths and sapeurs begged, borrowed or stole to buy designer clothes they could not afford.
When he formed Viva la Musica he began to source and nurture a steady stream of the most talented musicians including the young Koffi Olamide and Reddy Amisi who would become household names in the world of soukous.
Papa Wemba was hugely ambitious but conflicted, he wanted to break into the World Music genre and sought the stature enjoyed by the likes of Yousou N'dour and Salif Keita.
But at the same time he wanted to preserve the sound he had worked hard to develop, so he maintained a band in the Democratic Republic of Congo to play his trademark brand of soukous keeping his African fans happy.

He did find global recognition and his 1995 Emotion album, released by Peter Gabriel's Real World records, sold more than 100,000 copies - but it was just one of his more than 35 recordings.
On Sunday morning, Papa Wemba, the King of Rumba Rock, died on stage doing what he loved best, and the last thing he heard as he lay dying was his own music being played.

Finalists announced in the MTN entrepreneurship challenge powered by Jumia

South Africa | 20/4/2016

Johannesburg, South Africa, 20 April 2015 – Following a rigorous selection process, involving more than 700 applicants from 26 countries across Africa, the top three finalists in the MTN Entrepreneurship Challenge powered by Jumia, have been revealed. The challenge, which aims to boost entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as build a stronger and more sustainable business environment on the continent, kicked off in February, and is a joint initiative between MTN, Jumia and the MTN Solution Space based at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.
Through the entrepreneurship challenge, students were invited to develop a unique digital application or smart solution to address a problem faced in Africa. Applicants heeded the call and hundreds of original ideas covering the areas of E-Commerce Marketplaces, Education Technology, Smart Cities and Solutions, and Health Technology were received.
Over the past few weeks, the ideas were narrowed down, with 11 Live Pitch events taking place from Cameroon to South Africa, to shortlist the top candidates who will eventually pitch their business ideas at the Entrepreneurship Festival in Cape Town in May 2016.
The three finalists are:
Pass.ng (Nigeria)
Pass.ng is a web, desktop and mobile-based CBT examination preparatory and testing platform, with a vision to help candidates excel in all the major Nigerian examinations and tests.
MedRX (Ghana)
MedRx app is an interactive health platform for all users who have health needs. The app connects users to health personnel from various fields of practice including hospital, pharmacy, laboratory and academia.br>
Vicoba (Tanzania)
Village Community Banks (Vicoba) are an important instrument of development work, allowing people who do not have access to conventional bank accounts, to access informal investment groups. Vicoba app creates a collaborative platform that includes existing tools for financial and task management in a way that is adapted for the African market.
MTN Solution Space Manager, Sarah-Anne Arnold, congratulated the winners and commented: “Universities are resource-rich, highly networked and create opportunities for students to find like-minded co-founders and explore and develop new opportunities together, and are therefore the ideal environments to encourage entrepreneurs. This was shown by the amazing talent that emerged during the incredible week of Live Pitches which took place across campuses in 11 countries, in collaboration with partner universities and sponsors. Congratulations and best of luck to the finalists.”
The top two applications from each region were selected for the semi-finals and awarded the opportunity to undertake a short course from GetSmarter in order to build new capabilities in areas such as Search Engine Optimisation or Digital Marketing.
The finalists will face a panel of experienced business leaders at the Entrepreneurship Festival, where the winning team will be named. The panel includes Jeremy Hodara, co-CEO Africa Internet Group, Professor Walter Baets, Director of the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, and Herman Singh, MTN Group Chief Digital Officer.
“We are incredibly impressed with the calibre of applicants and the level of innovation shown. We are looking forward to the finals and wish our contenders the best of luck. We are certain that whichever team emerges victorious, it is the continent that will be the biggest winner, as entrepreneurship and locally developed solutions are what will enable the growth and development of this continent,” says Singh.
Bankole Cardoso, the Head of Communications at Africa Internet Group added, “From the application phase, we were very impressed with the high quality business models and it was not at all easy for the judges to select from so many promising businesses. Over the last week, we have held over 100 live pitches and given young entrepreneurs across the continent a platform to showcase their business ideas and even more importantly, to receive critical feedback from experienced professionals on our judging panels. The gaps in the African entrepreneurship ecosystem are in capital and mentorship so it was great to undergo an exercise like this that will no doubt force them to improve. I now look forward to working closely with these three finalist teams to prepare them for what’s to come in Cape Town. It is an incredible opportunity for all of them to propel themselves to the next level.”
The winners will be announced at the Entrepreneurship Festival with the top team being awarded the opportunity for incubation at the premises of either the MTN Solution Space at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, or at one of 9 Jumia offices across the continent. The winner will also win a cash prize of US$25 000 towards their start-up and have access to a Facebook Start Programme to the value of US$15 000, which includes tools and services needed to build mobile applications.

Marcus Rashford Euro 2016 inclusion unlikely - Roy Hodgson

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford does not turn 19 until 31 October
England boss Roy Hodgson says he would have to sacrifice a player who has "more reason to be called up" in order to fit teenage striker Marcus Rashford in his Euro 2016 squad.
Manchester United forward Rashford, 18, has seven goals in 13 outings since making his senior debut in February.
Hodgson has been "very impressed" with the teenager but said it was "unlikely" he would take him to France.
"I think it would be a very bold decision to put him in," added Hodgson.

Rashford, who is still six months short of his 19th birthday, marked his senior debut with two goals against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.
Since then, the England Under-20 international has scored four Premier League goals, including winners against Manchester City and Aston Villa.
The youngster also scored at West Ham to help United book an FA Cup semi-final date at Wembley with Everton.
In March, Hodgson said he would "neither rule him in or rule him out" when asked if Rashford could make his squad for France this summer.

Hodgson has numerous attacking options in the shape of United's Wayne Rooney, Tottenham's Harry Kane, Leicester's Jamie Vardy, Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge and Arsenal's Danny Welbeck.
In addition, West Ham's Andy Carroll has staked a claim after scoring six goals in his last five league games.
"I think it would mean possibly leaving someone behind who, at the moment, has more reason to be called up," said Hodgson when again asked about Rashford.
"But you never know. The fact is it would be foolish as well to say 'no, no, he's not ready, he can't do it'.
"I am sure he could do it.
"It's not inconceivable but it looks unlikely to me with the current players we've got and the competition for places in that area of the field."

Eddie Jones: England coaches should gain experience abroad

Eddie Jones
Eddie Jones has coached in Japan, Australia, South Africa and now England

England boss Eddie Jones believes English club coaches should work overseas to boost their chances of succeeding at international level.
Stuart Lancaster, the former England head coach, said recently he was interested in coaching in the southern hemisphere.
Jones has urged Lancaster's compatriots to follow suit, adding that he believes the Premiership is "quite insular".
"I would 100% recommend going overseas," the Australian told the BBC.
"There's good things in New Zealand, South African and Australian rugby and for English coaches to experience that would definitely help their development."
Jones was speaking in a wide-ranging interview with BBC Radio 5 live, in which he also compared England fly-half George Ford's development to that of New Zealand great Dan Carter.
The England head coach said at times Ford "probably over-thinks the game" but added that he had plenty of time to improve.
"Carter was probably at his best aged 28," said Jones. "He had moments when he made mistakes when he was younger. Ford is still only 23 so is going to make mistakes."
Jones also gave an insight into what he looks for in a player, saying it is not just technical ability but also mentality.
He also spoke about the time Wallaby great George Smith trained with England, saying the 111-cap Australia flanker, who is currently playing for Wasps, "wasn't keen on wearing the kit".

Uber settles over employee status row.

Protestors
Uber has been subject to protests from drivers
Taxi-hailing firm Uber has agreed to pay $100m (£70m) to settle a legal action over whether drivers should be classified as employees or independent contractors.
Drivers had argued that they should be classed as employees, entitling them to claim expenses and other rights.
The decision to settle will come as a relief to Uber and others in the on-demand economy who use contractors.
But critics will be disappointed the case is not going to trial.
In a blog post, Uber boss Travis Kalanick said he was pleased with the settlement.
"Drivers value their independence - the freedom to push a button rather than punch a clock, to use Uber and Lyft simultaneously, to drive most of the week or for just a few hours," he said.
But he acknowledged: "We haven't always done a good job working with drivers.
"It's time to change."

Grievances

Uber has agreed to some changes in its business practices, including a better policy explaining why it was terminating drivers' contracts.
It also said that it would help create a drivers' association in California and Massachusetts - where the actions were brought - that would act in a similar way to a union and be able to bring grievances to management's attention.
Some 450,000 drivers use the Uber app each month in the US, according to Uber.
One of the lawyers for the drivers, Shannon Liss-Riordan, said there would be disappointment that the case was not now going to trial but added that there was a "significant risk of losing" if the case moved forward.
This is partly because a federal appeals court had recently agreed to review an order allowing Uber drivers to sue as a group.
The settlement does not prevent future court, or US labour bodies, classing Uber drivers as employees, Ms Liss-Riordan added.
Out of the $100m proposed payment, $84m will go to drivers.
The deal must now be approved by US District Judge Edward Chen in San Francisco.

Trump on Clinton: 'Now I'm going to say she's not qualified'

Trump on Clinton: 'Now I'm going to say she's not qualified'
Trump on Clinton: 'Now I'm going to say she's not qualified' Donald Trump on Thursday picked up a recent spat between the Democratic candidates and said he thinks Hillary Clinton is not qualified for the presidency.
At a rally in Harrisburg, Pa., Trump said he would like Bernie Sanders to continue his battle with Clinton over the Democratic presidential nomination.
"He's been tough on her," he said. "In fact, I'd like him to keep going. The longer he goes the more I'm going to like it."
Trump then rehashed a recent clash between the two Democrats over qualifications, first saying that he thinks Clinton is qualified for the job and then switching positions.
"[Sanders] said she suffers from bad judgement and she said - now I don't know, I think she's qualified, I guess. But that doesn't mean she's good," Trump said. "He said she's not qualified to be president. Now what he meant is because her judgement is so bad- so Bernie Sanders, not me, said she's not qualified. So now I'm going to say: She's not qualified, OK?"
"We have all of the mistakes Hillary made as secretary of State," Trump continued. "We have a mess. The war in Iraq has been devastating. We have probably spent $4 trillion in the Middle East."
But Trump said he would prefer facing Clinton in a general election because of her past political subterfuge.
"Now Bernie's over, I guess," the Republican presidential front-runner said. "It's over for Bernie. I don't want to run against Bernie. I want to run against crooked Hillary Clinton. We are going to beat her so badly. Is there anyone more crooked than this woman?"
Clinton defeated Sanders in New York's Democratic presidential on Tuesday, dealing his Oval Office bid a major blow.
She leads Sanders by just over 1 point nationwide, but boasts 741 delegates more than her rival for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton's delegate total includes 1,428 delegates and 502 superdelegates, versus Sanders's 1,151 delegates and 38 superdelegates. At least 2,382 delegates are needed for avoiding a contested Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next July.

Checkout List Of 10 Types Of Boyfriends Every Female Has Had

girl-friends2

There are a lot of different types of guys every girl dates before meeting the man of her dreams. It is rare to find your soul-mate at a young age, this is why dating was invented.
According to research the average woman will kiss 15 men, enjoy two long-term relationships and have her heartbroken twice before she meets ‘The One’.
That said here’s a list of 10 types of boyfriends each girl has ever had or at-least seen her friends with;
1. The bad boy
This one breaks your heart over and over again but each time he comes back, you say yes and you can’t explain why.
He’s selfish, manipulative and sensitive but makes you feel so special at the same time though deep down you know he’s messing with you.
bad-boy
It’s the massive thrill you get’s from the risk that keeps you hooked.
2. The one that looks like your brother
He’s the only guy that you have ever felt truly understands you and with whom you can completely be yourself with. He’s probably seen you without make-up, without a a weave or fake-eyebrows but problem is everywhere you go everyone asks whether you two are brother and sister.
3. The colleague
You met at the your workplace and cupid shot his arrow. You went on a date seven times a week, and yes, the five lunch breaks you take count. He almost cost you your career and you late realize it wasn’t worth it ending up a hot topic on office gossip.
4. The hair-ball
This one is 99 percent hair, it’s gross and it bother’s you, yes but you are too love struck to care plus he lets you keep your body hair too.
5. The drunk one
His favorite song is ‘Am so Dirunk.’ He was very civilized on first dates but later he doesn’t take you out to fancy dinners because it’s out of his price range, but if you suggest that the two of you hit the bars, he’ll pick up tabs all night. His favorite jeans have a hole in the ass and his sneakers are rotted out but you drink top shelf.
6. The insecure guy
Insecure-Boyfriend-Meme-9
He’s the type of guy who wants to tag along in all your girls night out. He spends most of his time assuming you are probably in the arms of another man and has random panic attacks that you are about to dump and leave him.
7. The douche-bag
This one doesn’t reply your texts on time or call you back. Every time you ask him about it he says he was busy or tells you a cock and bull story. He is ignorant and cocky.
8. The really really old guy who just gets you
old-man_young-latin-girl_couple_love_
Then there’s the ‘sponsor.’ He’s decades older than you but he just get’s you both emotionally and economically, if you know what I mean. He’s got your back each time you feel like you want to dine in the finest hotels in the city. He’s mature different from all the guys your age. He’s accomplished and probably your own father’s age but that doesn’t bother you.
9. The ridiculously gorgeous guy

Apple complies with greater proportion of US data demands

Apple
The firm released its latest transparency report this week
Apple is consistently more compliant with US requests for access to users' information than with the rest of the world on average, it has emerged.
Its own figures showed that, in 2015, Apple released data on users' devices to US authorities 80% of the time, compared to 55% when it came to the UK.
That compared to a global average of nearly 60%, Apple's data showed.
A security expert said it was "deeply frustrating" for law enforcement agencies.
Apple released its latest transparency report on Monday to complement previous releases going back as far as 2013.
It published the numbers of device requests it received - those from law enforcement for contact information and other data.
Separately, it released data on account requests - those from government agencies for account details, including iTunes and iCloud account information.

Data release

The BBC's analysis has revealed that, similar to in 2015, the UK was below the global average and the US above it for both types of request in each of the previous years for which there were comparable data.
Among the five countries that regularly submitted a large number of device requests - more than 2,000 per year - the US was the only country to consistently receive Apple customer information a greater-than-average proportion of the time. Singapore was also below the average in each of the three years.
Apple's figures showed that, on average, it was unable to release data for 33% of account requests from across the world in 2015. In the US, the rate was 18% and, in the UK, 40%. A similar picture emerged in 2014. A comparison of account requests in 2013 was not possible because Apple did not release exact figures for the US for that year.
The US and the UK were the only countries to make more than 300 account requests per year.
Apple
Apple's figures showed a lesser propensity to release information to UK authorities
The consistently lower proportion of successful requests from the UK could be because Britain is seen as "less protective of personal privacy" than the US, said Prof Alan Woodward of the University of Surrey.
The security expert, who advises Europol and who has also advised GCHQ in the past, said: "Whatever the reason, it is a deeply frustrating situation for law enforcement agencies."
Despite Apple's presence in many countries outside the US, he added that it may also feel less duty bound to comply with requests from foreign governments.

'Government abuse'

According to Apple's report, the majority of device requests were in cases of lost or stolen phones and the BBC understands that some of the differences between countries were dependent on the differing approaches of national police forces towards phone theft.
The BBC also understands that some of the unsuccessful account requests were down to the company not holding any information, rather than resisting law enforcement efforts.
The firm declined to comment when contacted by the BBC.
On Monday, Blackberry's chief executive John Chen said the firm would comply with law enforcement but would prevent "government abuse of invading citizen's privacy".
He spoke in response to reports that Canadian police could intercept and read encrypted messages sent using Blackberry phones. Mr Chen said the firm "stood by [its] lawful access principles".

Letter from Africa: Why Nigeria's women out-kick the men

Nigerian footballer Ngozi Okobi pictured in 2013Getty Images
In our series of letters by African journalists, novelist and writer Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani blows her vuvuzela for Nigeria's Super Falcons.
Last week, Nigeria's national women's football team, the Super Falcons, secured a place in the 10th Africa Women's Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Cameroon later this year.
Three weeks ago, their male counterparts, the Super Eagles, failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations kicking off in Gabon at the start of 2017.
The Falcons are Africa's reigning champions; the Super Eagles have failed to qualify on two consecutive occasions.
Nigerians cannot be too surprised at the disparity of performance between our male and female teams.

Reality TV

Anyone who cared to look would have seen it coming.
The men's team sometimes comes across as a reality TV show rather than professionals who have been hired to win honour for their country.
There is always some new drama when it comes to keeping up with the Super Eagles.
Supporters attend the African Cup of Nations qualification match between Egypt and Nigeria, on 25 March 25, 2016, in Kaduna, Nigeria
The Super Eagles draw big crowds in comparison to the Super Falcons
In the past 12 months alone, the men's football team has had three different coaches.
Each replacement was heralded by incessant bickering between the coach and his players, and with the sport's national federation.
In October, goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama suddenly announced his retirement from the national team a day after he was officially stripped of the captain's armband by coach Sunday Oliseh.
Oliseh himself became the focus of the cameras in February, when a rant he posted on YouTube went viral.
Staring straight into the camera, with what appeared to be family photos in the background, he accused some of the team's critics as "insane" for expecting Nigeria to win every single match, then concluded the almost three-minute tirade with a heartfelt prayer for God to bless the critics with the same apparent ill-will that they wish the Eagles.
Oliseh was soon replaced by the current acting coach, Samson Siasia.

"The Nigerian Football Federation's poor treatment of the women's football team is just another example of the enormous inequality that Nigerian women suffer in many sectors of society"

In sharp contrast, the Nigeria women's football team go about their business without much drama.
The one time they attracted the kind of embarrassing attention that typically comes to Nigeria from their male counterparts was in June 2015, when their coach, Edwin Okon, apparently refused to shake hands with US coach, Jill Ellis, who approached him with her hand outstretched after Nigeria lost a match to her team.
But then, Okon is a man.

Bonus row

The Super Falcons have won the women's Africa Nations Cup - formerly known as the African Women's Championship - more than any other country - an impressive nine times.
They have also made it to every Women's World Cup since the Fifa competition began in 1991.
Nigeria's women football players - June 2015
The Super Falcons have an excellent record, winning the African title nine times
But despite the women's team being a sure-fire powerhouse in Africa, who continue to do their country proud, the Nigerian Football Federation does not seem to think that the women's team deserves to be treated well.
News reports stated that the Falcons were handed a paltry 10,000 naira each ($50, £35) after they successfully booked a ticket to the 2016 Africa Women's Cup of Nations.
This is in contrast with the men's team, whose players get paid $4,000 each for a draw and $5,000 for a win.
The women are also reportedly still owed their bonuses for qualifying for last year's World Cup in Canada.
None of this is new.
Back in 2010, Nigerian sport journalist Nnamdi Okosieme reported extensively on how the Falcons had been playing for peanuts.
The women received $500 for every match won at the World Cup, while the men got $30,000.
And, while the male team were lodged in five-star hotels, the women's team was regularly kept in substandard accommodation, he said.
A Super Eagles fan in Lagos, Nigeria - 2014
It's a hard life being a Super Eagles fan these days
The Nigerian Football Federation's poor treatment of the women's football team is just another example of the enormous inequality that Nigerian women suffer in many sectors of society.
The new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted in September by UN member states, including Nigeria, offer a unique opportunity to address many of these issues.
Sports can be an important enabler for development and women's empowerment.
Bridging the treatment gap between the country's men's and women's football teams is a good place for the Nigerian government to display its official commitment to gender equality.
So let's blow the whistle on such sexism - and celebrate all our "Super" sporting successes.

African Champs League: Zamalek, Zesco and Setif through

African Champions League trophy

Egypt's Zamalek and former champions Entente Setif of Algeria have joined Zambia's Zesco United in the group stages of the African Champions League.
Zamalek, coached by former Birmingham City and Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish, grabbed a late equaliser against Mouloudia Bejaia to progress 3-1 on aggregate.
The success eases some of the pressure on McLeish, who's side are trailing their great rivals Al Ahly in the Egyptian league by 11 points.
Setif, African champions in 2014, were held to a goalless draw at home by Sudan's Al Merreikh.
Coupled with a 2-all draw from the first leg, that takes them through on away goals.
And Zesco beat Mali's Stade Malien 2-1 on Tuesday to complete a 5-2 victory on aggregate and become the first team to reach the Champions League group stage.
Zesco's Jesse Were scored the opener for the hosts after five minutes.
Samake Issaka equalised after the break for visitors Mali, but an 80th-minute close-range effort from Maybin Mwaba made certain of their progress.
Malien's misery was complete when Issaka was sent off on 89 minutes.
The losers get a second chance as they enter the draw for the play-offs in the second-tier Confederation Cup.
There are five more matches on Wednesday, while the draw for the group phase takes place on Friday at CAF headquarters on Thursday.

US election 2016: Trump and Clinton win New York primaries

Donald Trump has won the Republican presidential primary in New York while Hillary Clinton has triumphed in the Democratic race.
With the majority of votes counted, Mr Trump looks set to extend his lead over rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich.
Meanwhile Democratic hopeful Mrs Clinton, a former senator for New York, is on course for a resounding victory over Brooklyn-born Bernie Sanders.
Wins will put Mrs Clinton and Mr Trump closer to securing their nominations.
With almost 95% of the results in, Mr Trump is leading with just over 60% of the vote while Mrs Clinton has just under 58%.
As it happened: Trump and Clinton win in New York
New York primary results
US networks projected that Mr Trump had won in his home state barely seconds after the polls closed at 21:00 EDT (01:00 GMT).
Speaking at Trump Tower in Manhattan, he said: "I have to say to the people that know me the best - the people of New York - when they give us this kind of a vote it's just incredible."
He said he was going to get more delegates than "anyone projected even in their wildest imaginations".
Media captionHillary Clinton triumphed in the Democratic primary contest
The big question is whether the billionaire businessman will make a clean sweep of all 95 Republican delegates at stake in New York by earning the majority of votes.
This would reduce the chances of a contested nomination at the Republican party convention in July.

A new-look Trump has a chance - by Anthony Zurcher, BBC North America reporter

Donald Trump needed a commanding victory, and he got it. Although the results in the state's 29 congressional districts - which allocate three convention delegates apiece - have yet to be finalised, it appears likely that Mr Trump will claim the lion's share of the 95 delegates at play.
Perhaps even more importantly, however, is the new, restrained Donald Trump on the campaign trail in the past few days. Gone are the incendiary tweets bashing his opponents (and their spouses). Instead on Tuesday night the candidate gave a short speech hammering home his economic message, emphasising his delegate and vote lead, and laying the groundwork to argue that he should be the party's nominee even if he doesn't win the 1,237 delegates necessary to claim the nomination outright.
Mr Trump recently brought in several experienced political hands to manage his campaign after a turbulent few weeks. If this new demeanour is part of the change they have inspired, Mr Trump could prove to be a more formidable opponent not just at the ballot box in upcoming primaries but in the contest to win over those in the party still deeply suspicious of his candidacy.
"Tomorrow, we go back to work," Mr Trump said during his victory speech. It was a very un-Trump-like line - and something that should have his opponents very concerned.

Grey line
Claiming her win, Mrs Clinton told supporters her campaign for the nomination was "in the home stretch and victory is in sight".
"New Yorkers, you've always had my back and I've always tried to have yours," she said. "Today together we did it again and I am deeply, deeply grateful."
It has been a fierce campaign in the state, with the leading candidates using their local ties to attract voters.
The Democratic campaign has turned increasingly negative, with Mrs Clinton and Mr Sanders trading barbs about their qualifications.
But following the latest result in the race for the Democratic nomination, Mrs Clinton said there was "much more that unites us than divides us".

The two front-runners for both parties cast their own votes in New York on Tuesday. Mr Trump cast his ballot at Central Synagogue in Manhattan in the morning, while Mrs Clinton voted with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, near their home in the suburb of Chappaqua.
They are the last presidential candidates to vote in the primary contest. Mr Sanders voted in his home state of Vermont in March, while Republican challengers Mr Cruz and Mr Kasich went to the polls in Texas and Ohio.
The voting in New York was marred by widespread complaints of irregularities, including more than 125,000 people missing from New York City voter rolls. The city's chief auditing officer, Scott Stringer, ordered a review of the city's Board of Elections (BOE) over what he called "chaotic and inefficient" organisation.
Although Mr Trump was sweeping to victory across most of the state, Ohio Governor Mr Kasich, otherwise in a distant second place, was leading in his home borough of Manhattan.
Meanwhile Mr Sanders, who has vowed to fight on in the nomination process, spent Tuesday in Pennsylvania before heading home to Vermont for a day off the campaign trail.
Republican hopeful Mr Cruz, whose criticism of "New York values" attracted scorn in the state, had also moved onto Pennsylvania and dismissed the New York result as nothing more than "a politician winning his home state", according to the Associated Press.
Pennsylvania is the most important of five states holding both Republican and Democratic primaries on 26 April, and then candidates will look to score successes in Indiana on 3 May.

'Drone' hits British Airways plane approaching Heathrow Airport

A British Airways A320
Police said the suspected drone had struck an inbound Airbus A320, similar to this one

A plane approaching Heathrow Airport is believed to have hit a drone before it landed safely, the Metropolitan Police has said.
The British Airways flight from Geneva was hit as it approached the London airport at about 12:50 BST with 132 passengers and five crew on board.
After landing, the pilot reported an object - believed to be a drone - had struck the front of the Airbus A320.
Aviation police based at Heathrow have launched an investigation.
Police said no arrests have been made.
If confirmed, it is believed to be the first incident of its kind in the UK.
A British Airways spokesman said: "Our aircraft landed safely, was fully examined by our engineers and it was cleared to operate its next flight."
The airline will give the police "every assistance with their investigation", the spokesman added.
A Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman said it was "totally unacceptable" to fly drones close to airports, and anyone flouting the rules can face "severe penalties, including imprisonment".
Steve Landells, from the British Airline Pilots Association (Balpa), said it had been "only a matter of time before we had a drone strike". He called for greater enforcement of existing rules.

Analysis

Drone
Leo Kelion, Technology editor
Flying a drone near an airport can already be punished with up to five years in prison, and rules also forbid taking them above 400ft (122m) or near buildings and crowds of people.
But the latest incident will only add to the pressure for further steps to be taken.
The US recently introduced a compulsory registration scheme so any drone recovered from an accident can be traced back to its owner.
In addition, officials could make it mandatory for drones to run geo-fencing software - that would prevent them flying in restricted areas.
The Department for Transport has promised to publish a strategy for unmanned aircraft this year.
And pilots have also called for the DoT to fund tests into what would happen if a drone got sucked into an engine or crashed into a plane's windscreen.
Last month, the British Airline Pilots Association noted that while the threat of bird strikes had been well researched there was little data about how much damage a drone could cause a plane.

'Severe penalties'

The incident follows a warning earlier this year by the head of the International Air Transport Association that drones flown by the general public are "a real and growing threat" to civilian aircraft.
Tony Tyler called for drone regulations to be put in place before any serious accidents occur.
The UK Air Proximity Board - which investigates near-miss incidents in UK airspace - said there have been a number of serious near-misses at UK airports involving drones.
Category A incidents - the most serious - were reported at Stansted, Heathrow, London City and Manchester airports last year.

Andy Carroll: Bad refereeing calls cost West Ham against Leicester

Jonathan Moss and Andy Carroll
Jonathan Moss ruled Andy Carroll to have fouled Jeffrey Schlupp in the penalty area
West Ham striker Andy Carroll says referee Jonathan Moss tried to "even things up" by awarding Leicester City an injury-time penalty on Sunday.
Moss penalised Carroll when Leicester's Jeffrey Schlupp went down in the area, allowing Leonardo Ulloa to convert from the spot to make it 2-2.
The Hammers were awarded a penalty earlier in the game when Wes Morgan pulled back Winston Reid.
Carroll accused Moss of giving "bad decisions" throughout the game.
"It's not acceptable," said the former Liverpool and Newcastle United frontman. "Week in, week out, we've had bad decisions.
Analysis: MOTD2 pundits on referee's 'mind-boggling inconsistencies'
"I mean, it is a bad decision. It's not the first time and probably won't be the last. I think he's trying to even it up and a lot of people have said that."
Moss also sent off Foxes striker Jamie Vardy, handing him a second yellow card for diving in the box.
The England international had opened the scoring for the Premier League leaders before Carroll levelled from the spot following Morgan's foul on Reid.
Aaron Creswell then gave the visitors the lead before Ulloa salvaged a point for Leicester to move them eight points clear of second-placed Tottenham, who travel to Stoke on Monday night.
Carroll claims the Hammers would have been occupying a Champions League spot had decisions gone their way this season.
Instead, they are sixth, three points behind Manchester United and seven adrift of Arsenal in fourth
"We could be third and flying," said Carroll. "Now we're still fighting for fourth, fifth spot and we're slipping down by losing these points.
"It is just disappointing and there's nothing we can do about it."

Brazil crisis: Rousseff loses lower house impeachment vote

Brazilian lawmakers cheer in parliament. Photo: 17 April 2016
Pro-impeachment deputies emerged victorious after a marathon voting session in Brasilia

Brazil's lower house has voted to start impeachment proceedings against President Dilma Rousseff over charges of manipulating government accounts.
The "yes" camp comfortably won the required two-thirds majority, after a lengthy session in the capital.
The motion will now be sent to the upper house, the Senate, which is expected to suspend Ms Rousseff while it carries out a formal trial.
She denies the charges, and accuses her opponents of mounting a "coup".
Brazil's governing Workers' Party said "the fight continues now in the Senate", which is expected to consider the case in May.
Impeachment vote: Live updates
Mr Rousseff's opponents secured 367 votes in the lower house - exceeding the 342-vote mark needed to send the motion to the Senate.
The "no" camp secured 167 votes, while seven other deputies abstained. Two deputies were not present during the voting.

MP casts deciding vote
Voting began after passionate statements from MPs and party leaders in a session broadcast live on television as well as on large screens in city centres.
Defending Ms Rousseff, Afonso Florence, of the Workers' Party, urged MPs to have a "democratic conscience", and attacked her opponents who are facing their own charges of corruption.
Pro-impeachment MP, Antonio Imbassahy of the PSDB party, told lawmakers to "choose the country that we want from now on", and said Brazil needed "moral reconstruction."
If the Senate votes for impeachment, Ms Rousseff will be put on trial in the upper chamber and will be removed from office permanently if found guilty. She has two opportunities to appeal during the whole process.

Hundreds of thousands of protesters watched the voting marathon on huge TV screens in cities across the country - Ms Rousseff's supporters wearing red and her opponents wearing the green-and-yellow of the Brazilian flag.
Some 25,000 protesters from both sides were outside the Congress building - separated by a 2m (6.5ft) high wall, that stretches for 1km (0.6 miles).
The "yes" camp burst into celebrations even before the two-thirds of the votes were secured.

Meanwhile, supporters of the president - wearing red - looked dejected
The atmosphere has so far been peaceful; almost festive with music, fancy dress and people blowing trumpets and vuvuzuelas.
The 68-year-old president has vigorously denied any wrongdoing, and on Saturday wrote in one newspaper her opponents "want to convict an innocent woman and save the corrupt".
The BBC's Wyre Davis in Brazil says Ms Rousseff is an unpopular leader in a country facing a severe economic crisis.
She is accused of juggling the accounts to make her government's economic performance appear better than it was, ahead of her election campaign two years ago - charges she vigorously denies.
But her supporters say many of the congressmen who are sitting in judgement have been accused of far more serious crimes.
If she is impeached, Vice-President Michel Temer would take over as interim president, but he is also facing impeachment proceedings over the same allegations as Ms Rousseff.
Ms Rousseff accused him this week of being one of the ringleaders of the "coup" attempt against her.
She has also indicated lower house speaker Eduardo Cunha - who would be second in line to replace her - is among those trying to oust her. He is being investigated over allegations of taking multi-million-dollar bribes.
Next in line to replace her is Renan Calheiros, head of the Senate. But he, too, is under investigation in connection with a massive corruption scandal at state-oil company Petrobras.
All three are from the PMDB - the largest party in the coalition, which abandoned Ms Rousseff in recent weeks to support the impeachment. They deny the allegations against them.
