[Tanzania] MP sees education in Magufuli’s new ‘industrialisation’

SEGEREA legislator Bonnah Kaluwa has appealed for more investment in education sector, saying that would enable President John Magufuli’s intention to industrialise the country by 2025 become successful.

She also argued that the objective to take Tanzania to become a middle-income level country needed more emphasis on education by producing enough manpower to serve and develop the industries.
“There is no way that we can achieve our vision to industrialise our country by depending on foreign experts. But, it is through setting up industries alongside preparing our own patriotic professionals,” she said.
The investment in education needed concerted efforts from both the government and parents, she said in Dar es Salaam over the weekend. Speaking during a graduation ceremony for Tusiime nursery school where a total of 270 pupils graduated, Ms Kaluwa said such investment should focus on education quality assurance, teacher education and build more cooperation between the government and private sector in order to scale up the education sector into new heights.
As the school being located in her constituency, she commended it for the achievement in offering education and performing well in examinations. She equally encouraged the school to keep more efforts and ensure that it retains the acquired achievement and strive to reach more successes.
The MP said she was satisfied by the way the institution has put in place its plans on infrastructures, work supervision, accountability and good cooperation between it and parents. On her part the school Headmistress Irene Njau, urged parents to see the importance of early education to their children as they grow up.
