The advice was given by United Nation’s representative in the country, Mr Alvaro Rodriguez yesterday when the UN Agencies plus Nordic Countries team made an official visit with management of some of civil and community projects financed by those agencies in the country.
Mr Alvaro said, the UN and Nordic Team were in the country to learn the development of society achievement both in social and economical bases after UN Agencies gave various forms of aid in the country and see if the people had actually been helped to fight poverty.
The team hailed the work done by TASAF in the country particularly after receiving true testimonies of beneficiaries at Msalato Ward. It said it was reassuring that Tanzania may attain its goal to eradicate poverty by the year 2030.
A beneficiary from Msalato Ward, Agnes William Kuderi, 30, told the delegation that before the TASAF program, almost 478 clans in the village had a difficult life. They could not manage their three meals a day. Moreover, the villagers could not send their kids to school or acquire basic health services or shelters.
The elderly there, who previously were a burden to them, lived a better life after the assistance. The delegations also visited Agnes’s new home, constructed after TASAF assistance. Also visited in the same period was Msalato Water Dam under construction.
After completion, the dam will have a capacity of 12,125 cubic meters square. Msalato Ward management said, the dam so far had cost intensive human labor intensive worth 30mls as part of community contribution to construct it in accordance with TASAF regulation.
Meanwhile, the delegation said Tanzania has a lot of potentials to produce food and is able to give enough assistance to feed refugees within central and southern corridor. The World Food Program (WFP) said, it will continue collaborate with Tanzania to execute its mission in the country.
The comment was said by WFP Head of Supply Chain in the country Mr Riaz Lodhi in Dodoma yesterday when UN and Nordic team visited WFP’s food milling factory and storage warehousing at Kizota Area in Dodoma Municipality to see WFP food status for refugees at Kasulu and DRC refugee’s camps.
Mr Lodhi further said, Tanzania has good enough land with more favorable weather and political conditions than other countries in east and central African states. The state, he added, gave UN and Nordic agencies assurance to bring more assistance to Tanzania to attain UN goals.
