[Tanzania] Minister presents case for better business climate

IN a bid to achieve the objectives of making Tanzania an industrial country, the government should ensure it builds up the best business environment in the country.

Launching of the Business Environmental Regulatory Licencing Reform Committee in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, the Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Charles Mwijage, said that it was advisable to double efforts to create a conducive environment for better business goals to achieve the desired development.
“A better business environment is the essential foundation for strengthening investment to boost the economy, create jobs, raise incomes and reduce poverty. We need to see investment inside and outside the country increased,” Mr Mwijage said.
He added that the main aim of create this committee is to make a detailed analysis of the business environment in the country and make recommendations to the government on improving the environment.
The minister noted the areas mostly complained about, including loan access from banks and other financial institutions, land registration, obtaining building permits, investment for small entrepreneurs and starting a business.
“The government has belief in this team and my ministry expects that this team will apply high expertise and focus on the interests of the country. This team is expected to complete his work within six months from its launch,” he explained.
He said that to reach the goal of industrialisation, the private sector should work amidst existing challenges to facilitate business operations. Earlier, the Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Trade and Investments, Professor Aldof Mkenda,called upon traders to present all challenges in order to be added to the law.
“We will ensure that our traders conduct their business in a conducive environment to achieve the desired goals,” he said. He added that such efforts needed collaborative efforts to boost the country’s economy through rapid and greater industrialisation.
