[Tanzania] PMO officials’ acquittal challenged

THE Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has filed an appeal to the High Court to challenge the acquittal of two senior officials with the Prime Minister’s Office, Edwin Igenge na Stella Ndomba, on 12 fraud charges they were facing.

Assistant DPP Oswald Tibabyekomya confirmed in Dar es Salaam yesterday that indeed they have decided to take the matter on appeal having been dissatisfied by the decision given by Resident Magistrate Godfrey Mwambapa at the Temeke District Court in the city.
“We have already lodged the notice of appeal against the ruling.
We are waiting to be supplied with typed copy of proceedings and the judgment to see how we can proceed with the matter, including preparing memorandum of facts,” he said
